Scientific communication is a complex exercise, in a delicate balance between the need to inform citizens in a simple and intelligible way and the necessity to maintain scientific rigor, to avoid banalizing or excessively simplifying the results of the research.

This balance becomes all the more difficult to keep as the complexity of data and analysis increases. After the greetings of the Director of the Department of Statistical Sciences of the University of Padova Giovanna Boccuzzo, a dialogue on this topic takes place among Daniela Boresi, journalist, Alessandro Vespignani, from the Northeastern University, and Antonella Viola, from the University of Padova, starting from the experience of the recent pandemic, in a search for best practices in scientific communication and dissemination. The dialogue is moderated by Mariangela Guidolin, from the Department of Statistical Sciences of the University of Padova.
